    The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has approved 13 initiatives in 11 counties, through the state’s Alternative and Clean Energy Program. “The projects supported by the CFA will help businesses and school districts save collectively on their utility costs and reduce their environmental impact,” said Governor Tom Corbett. These investments are projected to result in more than $109 million in additional economic investments.

    The Natural Gas Vehicle Act of 2013 (HB 579), headed to Governor Scott for signature, repeals the archaic decal tax structure and replaces it with a tax structure similar to diesel fuel. A five year period of no taxes on natural gas fuel is established, along with a rebate program that will incentivize the public and private sectors to expand their natural gas vehicle fleets.

    The company has entered into a Master Development Agreement with ZHRO™ Solutions, LLC, based in Chandler, Arizona, to produce fully-integrated storage and fuel delivery systems for robust and cost-effective aftermarket conversion of medium and heavy duty diesel fleets to run on natural gas. Under this agreement, which provided for an advanced payment of $1.0 million to Quantum to initiate activities under a compressed timeline, Quantum will engineer and develop fuel delivery modules and integrate Quantum’s high capacity ultra-lightweight Q-Lite™ NGV storage systems with ZHRO’s natural gas injection/engine conversion system.

    Through its wholly-owned subsidiary Hexagon Lincoln, Hexagon Composites has been awarded its largest North American TITAN™ order yet totaling approximately $11 million with an option to extend for a total of nearly $22 million to supply its lightweight modules to Xpress Natural Gas (XNG) in the United States. The Department of Transportation awarded Hexagon a special permit in 2012 to allow use of these modules

    Pennsylvania-based CNG One Source Inc. has recently purchased Texas-based Emission Solutions Inc. (ESI), and plans to move the company’s base of operations to Erie, where the business will secure additional jobs in manufacturing and machining. They will also develop a dealer network across the United States to provide for broader service of the natural gas engines.

    In an effort to cut their carbon footprints, both Dallas/Ft. Worth International and Love Field airports announced separate programs, which went into effect about three years ago, permitting natural gas vehicles to jump to the front of the taxi line. As a result, the shuttle company began converting its 1,400 taxis. Today, it operates 159 units and one town car that are fueled by CNG.
